Captain Elmo Jayawardena’s novel Sams Story also won the Gratiaen Prize. The Sinhala translation was published under the title ‘Sammy’s Story’. Jagath Chamila won the Best Actor award at the 2013 New York City Film Festival in the United States for the Sinhala film made on the Sinhala translation of this film.
